Beginning in 7th grade, students progress through math at a more individualized pace. The following is the traditional course sequence and the typical grade(s) students will encounter these courses.
| 7th grade | Fundamentals, 2nd edition |
| 7th/8th grade | Pre-Algebra, 2nd edition |
| 8th/9th grade | Algebra 1, 3rd edition |
| 9th/10th grade | Geometry, 4th edition |
| 10th/11th grade | Algebra 2, 3rd edition |
| 11th/12th grade | Pre-Calculus, 2nd edition |
| 12th grade | Consumer Math, 3rd edition |
Fundamentals of Math covers concepts such as whole numbers, decimals, number theory, fractions, and an introduction to algebra and geometry.
Pre-Algebra eases the transition from arithmetic to algebra. Algebraic expressions and linear equations are applied throughout a thorough review of operations on integers, fractions, decimals, percentages and radicals.
Algebra 1 focuses on graphing, solving systems of equations, operations with polynomials and radicals, factoring polynomials, solving rational equations, graphing quadratic functions, and real-life applications.
Geometry enhances your student’s problem-solving abilities and helps develop critical thinking skills for future math courses and everyday life. This course is traditional in nature, requiring students to prove theorems and calculate with formulas.
Algebra 2 focuses on developing reasoning skills and teaches concepts such as linear, quadratic, polynomial, radical, and rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, probability and statistics, complex numbers, and trigonometry.
Advanced Algebra 2 covers the same topics as Algebra 2, but offers a deeper exploration of the topics. Designed for students seeking a greater challenge, the course emphasizes higher-level problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Students are assigned more complex and rigorous problems, better preparing them for the demands of Precalculus and future advanced math courses. Students may take either Algebra 2 or Advanced Algebra 2 as a prerequisite for Precalculus.
Pre-calculus teaches the foundations of calculus and practical real-world applications. The study of functions, trigonometry, matrices, analytic geometry, sequences and series, statistics, and integral calculus are covered throughout the course.
Consumer Math prepares your student for making financial decisions with instruction about credit card charges, taxes, interest on loans and savings, personal banking, and costs of transportation, food, clothing, utilities, insurance, and filling out income tax forms.
