Sue Claggett - Teacher Assistant

Sue Claggett

Teacher Assistant

Sue Claggett

Sue graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Marketing Management degree and worked in the business field until she married Lance, and they had their two children, Nathan and Steven. Once their two sons were in school, she took a position as a teacher’s assistant in a public high school and fell in love with special education. A few years later, Sue was trained by the National Institute of Learning Disabilities in VA and began teaching in a specialized program for students with disabilities at a Christian school in Springfield, MA. After relocating to NH when Lance became pastor of a small Baptist church in Contoocook, NH, Sue was teaching in another Christian school and was able to get state certification as a special education teacher. Since then she’s continued to tutor and teach children for many years in different environments all under the special ed umbrella and taught 2nd grade at HLA during the 2022-23 school year. She loves assisting young people to grow as readers and individuals made in the image of God, point them to Jesus as their Savior, and encourage them to trust and walk faithfully with Him each day.

Sue has been married to Lance for almost 40 years, and has had the privilege of walking beside him in Christian ministry for the majority of that time. Now they are thrilled to be living in the Durham/Raleigh, NC area near Nathan, his wonderful wife, Laura, and their two beautiful daughters, Katelyn and Kelly, their grandkids. Since they also attend HLA, it’s a bonus to be able to see them every campus school day!

When she isn’t working, Sue loves to be with Lance and family, work out, go for walks, watch sports, play with their animals, Yeti, the dog, and Bella, the cat, sew, and be creative especially with home projects. She also desires to continue to grow in Christ and serve Him to magnify His name.
