As a Pre-K teacher at Heritage Leadership Academy, Heather is compassionate and dedicated to fostering a warm, engaging and creative environment for children to thrive and discover their purpose that God has knitted within them. She has been teaching since 2008 after graduating from Meredith College with a degree in English Literature. She initially began her teaching career in the public High School system where she focused on English literature and Special Education. Not long afterwards she realized that she had a greater heart for Early Childhood education and she returned to school to achieve her Early Childhood Education Credentials I and II. She taught and held a position as Lead Teacher at one of Duke's preschool programs for nearly 8 years, until leaving to be a Venue Event Manager while homeschooling her two children. Heather and her husband Paul, reside in Hillsborough with their two adventurous children, Aaron and Haven. As a family, you will find them spending their valued time together outside searching for wild critters, cultivating the garden, constructing forts, diving in the pool, and kicking up dirt on their bikes and dirt bike.
